The series “The Natural Order” show contradictions connected to our Western view on the final stages of life. Here Håkon Røisland ask why aging and death are often talked about only from a philosophical or an imaginatively horror point of view; instead of dealing with the physical processes the body undergoes. Attempting to visualize what has become a taboo for so many people, he stage himself as a part of this process. Doing this is not only about creating a picture, but also about a mental experiment of our own mortality. The pictures show the stages of aging, death, decay and absorption. In the end Håkon ask if absorption is the final stage, or if it is the start of something new.
